Select your business. It’s not always easy to decide what business to get into. There are so many options and so many things to take into account. I recommend that you make sure you find a business that offers a product you would use yourself. It is always easier to promote something that you have experienced and are comfortable with. Today’s customers are savvy. They will know right away how you genuinely feel about the product. Also, make sure the company is a dependable one with a proven track record. Ask yourself: Can I sell this service or product? How large is the market for it? Will this product be needed in the next ten years? Can I say I believe in this product or service?
Join social networks. You’ve decided to market online, but exactly how do you go about it? Many people simply set up a web page and feel good about having a web presence. But you won’t get traffic to your website without some serious marketing. And while it’s not hard, you can’t do it without some sustained effort. I recommend that you join the major social networks. (By major, I mean Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. I don’t recommend that you join every network out there because after a while you will become overwhelmed.) This will give you a way to meet and share with new people. It also makes it easy for people to share your product with their friends and family, which now is as simple as someone hitting the Facebook button.
Create a blog. I have found that blogs often bring in more traffic quicker than websites can. The reason for this is that a blog is always new and fresh with a new post each day so people tend to keep coming back to see what’s new. A blog also add a personal touch and feel to your business. It reassures your customers, “We are still here and going strong.”
Don’t procrastinate. It’s easy to put things off until tomorrow or next week. But remember, if you want your business to be successful, you must treat it like one. You may not go as far to set hours for yourself each day (though I strongly recommend that you do), but do set aside time each day to work on your dream. Make a list of things that need to be done that day or that week. Review your list at the end of each day to see how many things you accomplished. You have to be your own boss which means staying on the track you laid out for yourself.
By following a few simple guidelines, you’ll be on your way to to turning your dreams into reality in no time at all.
To your MASSIVE success!
