Hip Hop tunes have been around for over 30 years now. It has seen its share of change both positives and negatives. From hardcore gansta hip hop to rap love song by LL cool J. Even though it was conceived during the late 70′s, it has managed to remain on top while more and more rappers in these days are becoming very popular and rich because of it.

While hip hop music advanced throughout the years, a type of music from the south introduced itself. It grew to be knownas dirty south. So many artists that came from the south began to receive lots of exposure for the style of music they had been presenting to the music industry. Artist like outkast, David Banner, Goodie Mob and so many others were getting very popular with the new south sound. Currently in today’s music there are rappers blowing up like T.I., Rick Ross, Soulja Boy, Gucci Man, and many others which continue to keep the south at the top.

What should this convey to you as an artist seeking to blow up inside today’s music industry? First, even if you usually do not like that kind of music, you may have to realize that it without a doubt runs the music airwaves. As an artist you need to record a few dirty south beats along with get yourself in a spot to get some spotlight. Something that will never shift regarding the music business is whatever is popular at the moment all the mainstream artists try to include in their music.

A lot of artists have utilized what was well known for getting them on to the big arena and then chose to stick with what’s in their spirit to do. We saw this with pink. When she first came out she was an R&B artist doing R&B songs. She did the pop thing and established some following and then went to her record label after wards and told them that she no more desired to make pop music but alternative music. As a result she blew up much more.

Being an artist trying to get out in the music business, try not to look down on any other form of music to stay true to what you think. From time to time it is going to require you bending your own rules and doing what is popular to get notice.
