The 1975 Movie, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, is an all-time favorite of many. It has been described as an anti-establishment statement. It is a comedy and at the same time, a serious movie. She is played by Louise Fletcher. She runs the mental ward. She intimidates the men and forces them into following her orders with mind games. She loves the power that she wields over everyone. Moreover, she is not about to relinquish that to McMurphy.

Life in the mental hospital is dull. McMurphy decides to liven up the atmosphere. He plays poker with the men. He takes their cigarettes and spare cash. This does not impress Nurse Ratched. In one scene, he lobbies the men top vote for a television show. The World Series is on television and he wants to watch. There is only one TV and he must have a majority of votes to turn the channel. He gets a unanimous vote for the ballgame. Nurse Ratched refuses. She wants everyone to vote, even the ones out of touch with reality. He has to go to them and ask for votes. When he finally gets enough votes, she tells him that he is too late. Unable to do anything about it, he decides to watch an imaginary baseball game. It scores big with the men.

In another scene, McMurphy informs the men that he can lift a giant hydrotherapy machine. One man bets twenty-five dollars that he cannot. After a great deal of struggle, he fails. He still feels vindicated, because he tried. The men admire that.

McMurphy also takes a bus. He and the men go deep-sea fishing. They have an enjoyable time. They finally return and get into a fight with orderlies. As punishment, he and others get shock therapy.

Then he finds out that most of the men are there voluntarily. He is not. Nurse Ratched can keep him as long as she wishes. This is very unsettling to him, and he decides to tone things down a bit. However, it does not last long. He cannot resist flaunting authority. His schemes and mischief continue throughout the movie. It ends in a most unexpected way.

One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest is an amazing movie. The acting is superb. Many people went on to great things afterward. Christopher Lloyd and Danny Devito are two examples. It is a very good way to spend the evening.
