To most of us it seems like the Mormons have been around forever. They actually date back to the 1820s. In 1823 a young lad by the name of Joseph Smith sought Gods wisdom as to what church he should belong to. Some speculate that he went into the woods to do this while others claim that he did it from his bedroom. He states that the Angel Maroni summoned him and called him by name and stipulated to him that he had great works for God to do. He was directed to finding some golden plates where the instructions and historical episodes that had taken place centuries ago. Joseph claimed that the everlasting gospel was contained on these plates.

Every religion has its own place of worship. It may be called a church, temple, house, or sanctuary. For example in accordance to the Mormon religion how the word temple actually came about has been lost in history. The basis of the word temple is to look at the root name from the Latin language which when translated means for something that is measured and plotted. In respect to the Mormons their temple is used for carrying out all of the ordinances that is part of their religion. The whole concept is that the ceremonies are the pattern for mainstream living and for the pattern of life. Followers believe all things which are covered within the temple. Their belief is that life is everlasting. The temple is much like the traditional Christian churches in the respect that individuals can go there for solitude and to have a relationship with God as they know it.

Most often when an individual is on the search for a religion that is suited for them they will take a look at different types.
