There are numerous different types of Care Services available including Residential Care homes and care services at home, also known as Domiciliary Agencies, which help you to stay as independent as practical in your own house.

All of the Support services need to be registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspection ( CSCI ) and are continually inspected and reports prepared. These reports are available for everybody to read and it is important that you do read these reports to discover more about the service you are interested in and to discover how good they are.

A star rating has been applied to the reports. The more stars the better.

Inspection reports can be read for the care service providers on the CSCI website www.csci.gov.uk.

it is critical that you are feeling fully comfortable with the care you may receive and to understand exactly what services are going to be supplied, how much it is going to cost with no concealed extras, and if it is possible to talk to existing clients to get their feedback. You may even be able to set up a testing period with the social care service or prepare a short stay at the care home.

It is your right to have a written care plan from your care services provider. This can be reviewed and changed at any time depending on your living circumstances.

Should your care services provide be giving you food, it is within your rights to request special meals based on your faith.

If you should be unhappy at any time with your care homes, or care services provider, you are able to leave. No one can force to you stay anywhere.
