There are several rules one must follow in order to keep your shearling coat looking as good as new for years to come. The most common mistake people make when caring for their shearling coat is they use a washing machine and/or dryer. This is a very easy way to ruin your coat. Always dry clean and air-dry your coat.

The second rule is a bit tedious, but it\’s really not that tough. If you love your shearling coat, you\’ll want to clean it pretty frequently. Depending on the amount of use you get from your coat, this may vary but shearling easily picks up dirt. The dirt settles into the shearling and becomes harder and harder to remove as it settles. When you\’re hanging your shearling coat, always make sure there\’s enough room. You never want to hang it in any contorted way, as this can cause permanent creases in the coat. Let it hang in a natural form and always use a stout hangar. People tend to hang coats on door knobs or other round objects, but I advise against this as well!
